In the documentary Cancer awareness: Lymphoma there ail, be five different categories, the style, format, genre, target audience and the intended aim.
The style of the documentary Cancer awareness: Lymphoma will be an expository documentary as it will be sharing a woman's story on her life with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and how she dealt with her big life change. The documentary will also be exposing footage of the 10K Bupa run. This footage will be shown in-between the woman's life story to show the audience that there are many things out there that you can do to help patients like this woman and others out there with Cancer. The documentary will also have an interview with a close relative on how they were feeling knowing that someone very close to them was going through a huge life change. For example this documentary will be using the same form of style that are used on the documentaries on Channel 4, this is to inform the audience on what is happening by giving them the facts to show them how serious cancer is and how they could save a persons life, for example Panorama, as they explore and expose their stories showing the audience what it is happening behind the scene's.
This documentary will be using similar format to the documentary Cancer the Forbidden Cure as this documentary starts of with an introduction to cancer giving it's audience the facts on how many people in todays world have been diagnosed with cancer and how cancer is developed in the human body, they do did by using a male voice over, this gives the audience the impression that they are being shown important information that could change your and a life around you. In Cancer awareness: Lymphoma, this documentary will be using a female voice over to give the audience a softer approach as the main story will also be based around a woman's life. The documentary will also have contents of intense interviews, this will be done by using close ups of the interviewees face to show the true emotion on how that her is feeling, this will cause the audience to feel sorry for the main character which will cause the audience want to donate to charity to help other people with the same cause.
The genre of this documentary will be educational and special interest, as the documentary will produce multiple facts on Lymphoma informing the audience how serious this type of cancer is and how it is the fifth most common cancer that is being diagnosed in the UK. The documentary will be gathering sources of information websites such as Lymphoma associations and Cancer ResearchUK, also by using books discussing the facts on Lymphoma. This type of documentary will be a special interest as it is based on a main character tell the audience her life story of have to live with Lymphoma and her life after Lymphoma.
The target audience for the documentary Cancer awareness: Lymphoma would be both men and woman, that might be themselves or friend/ relative that has the same type of cancer so that they are able to relate to the main woman's story. This story would also be focusing on a range of people that are curious and have always wanted to know about this type of cancer so that they are more educated so that they know how popular Lymphoma actually is. The age range that this documentary will be focusing on would be people from the ages of 15+ as this topic is very sensitive and will be able to explore the minds of young and the older generations to create emotion.
The intended aim for Cancer awareness: Lymphoma will be to create emotion to cause people to feel sensitive and upset about the story that is being told to create awareness for people to ring up and donate money for Lymphoma patients and the hospitals such as The Christie, which are special hospitals for patients that have cancer. There are more than 200 different types of cancer and still not that many people know about it, so this documentary will be made to help people to find out a little more about one of these types of cancer's. The presenter and voice over will tell the audience during the documentary about the facts on cancer, the presenter will also explain a little about why she is creating this documentary so that the audience will feel a connect with the presenter and the interviewee which will keep them engaged in the story.
